Maria M. "Maggie" Maranhao Obituary (2022)

DARTMOUTH... Maria M. "Maggie" Maranhao, 52, passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2022. Maggie was the loving companion of Brenda Torres for 21 years. She leaves her beloved fur babies, Oreo and Wally, in her care. She was born in Terceria, Azores to the late Luiz and Maria Maranhao and moved to the United States in 1971. Maggie was a homemaker and animal lover who enjoyed cooking, hosting parties and day trips to casinos. Along with her partner Brenda, she is survived by: sister, Genoveva Maranhao of New Bedford, MA; and brothers, Renato Maranhao of Dartmouth, MA and Jorge Maranhao of Portugal; nieces and nephews, Jaryn and Ashley Pereira, Briana Pereira and fiance Shawn Miranda, Chayce Pereira, and Tahlia, Brandon and Anthony Rivera and their mother, Ivette Rivera, Maggie's lifelong best friend. A celebration of life will be private. In lieu of flower, donations may be made in Maggie's memory to the Humane Society of Dartmouth, 31 Venture Drive, Dartmouth, MA 02747.
