FALL RIVER... Joseph J. Lopes, 58, of Fall River passed away July 19th at his home following a long illness. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late John D. and Dorothy V. (Sears) Lopes and had been a lifelong resident of this city. Mr. Lopes worked as a laborer in the construction field and had attended the former SMU, currently the University of Massachusetts- Dartmouth. He enjoyed working with electronics, carpentry and art. Survivors include 3 brothers: John D. Lopes of Fall River, David Lopes of Kissimmee, FL, & Ricardo Lopes of Fall River, a sister: Donna Brisson of Fall River, several nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Matthew Lopes and Paul Lopes. Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Wednesday at 7:45 PM at South Coast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant St. Fall River. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 5 - 7:45 PM prior to the service. Interment will be private.
