John L. Phillips, Sr. Obituary (2016)

LITTLE COMPTON... John L. Phillips, Sr., 76, of Little Compton passed away October 14, 2016 at St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of Juliette (Watts) Phillips. Born in Kansas City, MO, he was a son of the late Ralph and Nancy (Davis) Phillips and had lived in Little Compton for the past 10 years. Mr. Phillips was a 24 year veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he worked as a Torpedo Tester at Seaward Service in Newport, RI. He enjoyed camping, trains, models, fishing and hunting. Along with his wife, John is survived by2 sons: John L. Philips, Jr. of Cleburne, TX and Bryan F. Phillips, Sr. of Little Compton, a brother, Ralph and sister, Lavita, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 7:45 PM at South Coast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant St. Fall River, MA. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5 - 7:45 PM, prior to the service. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's mane can be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
